Southcentral Veterinary Services is a family-oriented, mixed animal hospital. While dogs and cats make up the majority of our patients here in Bowling Green, we're also happy to see equine and other large animals, pocket pets, and birds for essential services. Because we are dedicated to the wellbeing of your animals and being of service to you when you need us, you can call us at any time. We do our best to help in any way we can.

Dr. Grimes Owner & Veterinarian
Dr. Eddy Grimes is a Warren county native who grew up in the Richardsville community. He is a Warren East High School and Western Kentucky University alumnus. Dr. Grimes received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. Upon graduation, he worked in a mixed animal practice in Horse Cave, KY and Morgantown, KY. He opened Southcentral Veterinary Services in January 2011.
When he is away from the office, Dr. Grimes enjoys spending time with his wife, children and doggies, traveling and watching Auburn football.

Dr. Thomas Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Karen Thomas is a wonderful addition to our SVS team! She is a WKU alumni and received her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Tuskegee University. Currently, Dr. Thomas is accepting new patients on Wednesdays.
She resides here in Bowling Green with her husband, David and their three daughters. Away from the clinic she enjoys cooking, watching soccer & football and supporting WKU cheer. She has two labs, Bullet & Henry and an English Setter who likes to hunt.

Dr. Slaton Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Monroe Slaton is a proud alumnus of Western Kentucky University, Class of 1964, and a 1968 graduate of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. With a deep passion for animal care, he owned and operated the Madisonville Veterinary Clinic from 1970 until his retirement in 2014, serving both small and large animals throughout Muhlenberg County.
Wellness is Dr. Slaton’s passion, and he especially enjoys educating pet parents about preventive care and parasitology. His commitment to lifelong learning and client education makes him a perfect fit here at Southcentral Veterinary Services, where he continues to share his knowledge and compassion with both pets and their people.
Dr. Slaton has been happily married to his sweetheart, Carolyn, for 58 years. Together, they raised two sons and now enjoy the companionship of their beloved Maltese-Shih Tzu mix, Emma Grace.

Nicole Grimes Chief Financial Officer/Practice Manager
Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Western Kentucky University, Class of 2000. Before stepping into the world of veterinary medicine, she built a successful career as a mortgage lender with Citizens First Bank.
In 2011, Nicole joined her husband, Dr. Eddy Grimes, in opening their veterinary practice, where she now manages the day-to-day operations with a focus on efficiency, client service, and team support. Her background in finance and leadership has been instrumental in the growth and success of the clinic.
Outside of the clinic, Nicole enjoys all things summer—sunshine, pool days, and travels—and cherishes time spent with her family. She’s also a proud dog mom to a Pearl the Pomeranian and Duncan the Golden Retriever.

Vanessa Minador Client Care Representative
Vanessa has a huge heart for all animals and she is a perfect addition to our Client Care Team. She has two cats of her own, Evo and Kai. Vanessa is also pet CPR and first aid certified.
Away from the clinic, she enjoys attending car shows.

Carley Givens Client Care Representative
Carley is currently a marketing major at Western Kentucky University and is originally from St. Louis. She loves being part of the SVS team as she has pets of her own. She has two dogs, Dixie and Daisy and two horses, Will and Shinner. Her favorite way to spend a weekend is by hanging out with family and friends.

Hannah Keen, LVT Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician
Hannah serves our team as our Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician. She brings a wealth of technical skills along with management skills to our SVS team efficiency. She is a graduate of Volunteer State Community College with an Associates in Veterinary Technology.
Away from the clinic, Hannah enjoys spending time with her husband, Marcus, and their dog, Stella.

Kinsey Cook, LVT Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kinsey is from Portland, TN and graduated from Columbia State Community College with an Associate's Degree in Animal Science. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, hiking and spending time with her husband and two kids. At home, she shares her love for animals with her dog, Remi, and her cat, Sushi.

Jorja Tuttle Lead Veterinary Assistant
Jorja is from Scottsville, Ky. She graduated with an Associates in Science in May of 2023 and plans to attending Pen Foster to obtain her license as a veterinary technician.
Away from the clinic, Jorja enjoys spending time with family and friends and her fur baby, Milo.

Makayla Weiss Veterinary Assistant
Makayla is currently enrolled in Southern KY Technical College. When she's not studying, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading or watching movies. At home, she stays busy with her cat, dog and snake--and she shares life with her boyfriend, Gunnar. She loves meeting new people, hearing their stories and growing each day in her journey toward a career in veterinary medicine.

Lyndsey Beckner Veterinary Assistant
Lyndsey has built her career in veterinary medicine since 2009 and is currently enrolled in Penn Foster Veterinary Tech Program to obtain her Veterinary Technology degree. Growing up, Lyndsey was very active in the rodeo arena, including competitive barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying and breakaway roping. Her passion for horses is what has led her to veterinary medicine.
She is engaged, Stephen and is a dedicated stepparent to Sadie, Scarlett and Sally. They also have three dogs, Cinch, a 5-year old Heeler/Pointer mix; Ranger, a 5-year old tripod Australian Shepherd and Cash, a 3 year old Pitbull/Lab mix.
Outside of work, she enjoys horseback riding, trail riding, playing softball and supporting her stepdaughters in their sports endeavors.

Garrett Grimes Patient Care Team
Garrett attends Western Kentucky University. He has assisted his dad, Dr. Grimes, since opening day of SVS when he was only in Kindergarten. Garrett plans to attend AUCVM in the future and become a veterinarian.
Away from the office he enjoys fishing, spending time with friends and his golden retriever, Odin.

Zane McCauley Patient Care Team
Zane is a Bowling Green native and is studying Agriculture Pre-Vet at Western Kentucky University. He hopes to attend Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine in the future and concentrate in aquatic animals.
Away from his studies and work, he enjoys being out on the water and hiking the woods. He is also West Virginia Mountaineer's biggest fan.

Claire Burklow Patient Care Team
Claire is part of our Patient Care Team. She is currently attending Western Kentucky University studying in the Pre-Vet program. Claire plans to attend Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a fur mom to her Golden Retriever, Vlatty.
Away from school and the clinic, Claire enjoys all things outdoors and taking hikes.

Addi Vincent Patient Care Team
Addi is a senior at Edmonson County High School and loves spending her free time riding horses. She has two dogs, Sage and Flash, who keep her busy at home. Addi enjoys working at SVS because it allows her to be around animals every day while learning new skills that will help her in her future.

Raj Professional Lap Warmer/After-Hours Security Officer
Meet Raj, our fearless feline-in-residence and the true ruler of the clinic. With a swagger in his step and a purr that can calm even the most nervous visitor, Raj takes his jobs very seriously.
When he’s not supervising from the front desk, you’ll find him sunbathing in the warmest spot.
Whether you're a human or a fellow furry friend, Raj is here to make you feel right at home.

Millie Gentle Soul In-Resident
Meet Millie, our soft-eyed, sugar-faced coonhound with a heart as big as her ears. Millie offers quiet companionship, loves to sunbathe and reminds us all to slow down and breathe.
Her favorite spot? Right beside Dr. Grimes while he’s working on notes or making phone calls at his desk.
She loves to bark orders—just one look from those soulful eyes, and you’ll understand who’s really running things around here. And if you're lucky, you might get a tail wag.
Community Involvement
Bowling Green is our home, and we care about the people and animals who share it with us. Along with providing veterinary care to our patients, we’re also very much involved in supporting area schools while contributing to and participating in local events.
